That is a wide range. The reason is that “pergola” covers everything from a simple fabric retractable canopy over a small balcony to a multi-module motorised bioclimatic structure spanning a large villa terrace. They are fundamentally different products at different price ranges.

Fabric Retractable Pergola (Wave Shade)
Starting from AED 12,000
The Wave Shade pergola is a Motorised or Manual retractable fabric pergola. It is typically the most cost-effective custom installation. The Wave Shade uses Sauleda solution-dyed acrylic fabric and suits spans up to 5m x 5m. Price increases with span size, fabric colour and grade, and whether the structure is wall-mounted or freestanding.
Best suited for: covered terraces, balconies, smaller residential outdoor areas.
Fixed Flat Waterproof Pergola (Nimbus)
Starting from AED 15,000
The Nimbus is a fixed aluminium pergola with a fully waterproof flat roof panel. No moving parts, no fabric, no motors – permanent overhead protection with minimal maintenance. Price is driven primarily by span size and the number of posts required.
Best suited for: year-round outdoor dining areas, covered walkways, commercial terraces.
Fixed Louvred Pergola (Liwa)
Starting from AED 14,000
The Liwa features a fixed aluminium frame with fixed louvres that overlap. It provides shade if installed in the correct direction and allows air to flow through. It sits between a solid fixed roof and a fully motorised system in both functionality and price.
Best suited for: residential villas, covered pool areas, buyers wanting a permanent louvred structure without the cost of full motorisation.
Bioclimatic Motorised Pergola (Sierra)
Starting from AED 15,000
The Sierra is the premium specification – motorised tiltable aluminium louvres controlled via Somfy remote, custom manufactured to your dimensions. A typical two-module Sierra installation for a villa terrace or carport falls in the AED 15,000 to AED 60,000 range. Larger commercial installations or complex configurations will exceed this.

What Drives the Price Up?
Understanding what adds cost helps you budget accurately and compare quotes properly.
Size and number of modules Pergolas are modular. A single module might cover 4m x 4m. A two-module installation covering 8m x 4m is not simply double the cost – but size is the primary cost driver across all types.
Number of Louvers One of the ways companies reduce the cost and price is to reduce the number of louvers in fixed pergolas. This creates more space(a bigger gap) between each louver thereby reducing the cost but also reducing the shade effectiveness of the pergola. Watch out for this when comparing.
Number of posts A wall-mounted single-post installation uses fewer materials and less labour than a freestanding four-post structure. More posts mean more concrete work, more fixings, and more structural complexity.
Motorisation and controls Moving from manual to motorised operation adds cost. The quality of the motor matters significantly in the UAE – motors must be rated for continuous outdoor use in high ambient temperatures. We use Somfy controllers on our bioclimatic systems for this reason.
Add-ons and integrations Ceiling fans, LED lighting integrated into the gutter profile, outdoor blinds, rain and wind sensors — each adds to the final price but meaningfully extends the usability of the space. These are worth budgeting for upfront rather than retrofitting later.
Site complexity A straightforward terrace with accessible ground is the easiest installation. Rooftop terraces, elevated structures, confined access, or sites requiring significant concrete work add time and cost.
Powder coating finish Standard colours – white, anthracite, grey – are included in base pricing. Wood effect powder coating, which replicates the appearance of timber without the maintenance, adds approximately 40% + to the profile cost and is worth factoring in if aesthetics are a priority.
What About Ready-Made Pergolas?
Ready-made or DIY pergola kits are available in the UAE market from approximately AED 7,000 to AED 10,000. These are pre-manufactured flat-pack structures, typically in standard sizes, that are assembled on site.
They are a legitimate option for some situations – a small balcony, a temporary installation, or a tight budget. But there are limitations worth understanding before choosing this route:
- Profile thickness is typically thinner than a custom-manufactured structure, which affects rigidity and longevity under UAE heat stress
- No structural calculation – a ready-made kit is not engineered for your specific site, fixing conditions, or wind load exposure
- Limited customisation – size, colour, and configuration options are constrained by whatever the manufacturer produces
- No warranty on installation – the product may carry a manufacturer warranty but the installation can be your responsibility. Check with the seller.
For a permanent structure on a villa or commercial property, a custom-installed pergola with a structural report and installation warranty is the appropriate specification. For a temporary or budget solution, a ready-made kit may suffice.
