Built For The UAE Climate
The UAE climate is unforgiving. Temperatures exceed 45°C in summer, UV index regularly hits extreme levels, and structures face wind loads, sandstorms, and seasonal rain. A pergola that works in Europe will not necessarily perform here.
Most problems we see with failed pergolas come down to three things: thin aluminium profiles that deflect and warp under heat stress, cheap fabric that fades and tears within a season, and motors that are not rated for continuous outdoor use in high temperatures.
At Shading Oasis, every aluminium pergola we install is manufactured in the UAE and designed specifically for UAE conditions - with posts and fixings sized for your site, Sauleda solution-dyed fabric, and components chosen for the climate rather than simply imported and fitted.
What To Look For
The UAE pergola market has a significant volume of low-cost structures that look acceptable in a brochure and deteriorate rapidly in the field. A pergola is a fixed structure - replacing one is expensive and disruptive.
Aluminium Profile Thickness
Thin profiles flex and distort under load and temperature change. Reputable suppliers will show you the spec - ask for it.
Fabric Specification
Solution-dyed acrylic fabric such as Sauleda holds its colour and tensile strength under prolonged UV exposure. Cheaper polyester or non-solution-dyed fabrics fade within one to two seasons.
Number Of Louvres
Some suppliers reduce louvre count to cut costs - wider gaps between louvres means less shade. Ask how many louvres are included per metre before signing off.
Motor Specification
For motorised systems, the motor must be rated for continuous outdoor use in high ambient temperatures. We use Somfy controllers on our bioclimatic systems for this reason.
Warranty
A supplier confident in their product will back it with a meaningful warranty. We provide a 5-year warranty on all Shading Oasis installations.
