This freestanding 5 x 5m Sierra bioclimatic pergola shades a villa garden on Saadiyat Island. The motorised louvres open for airflow or close against sun and rain, and a 5 x 3m zip screen on one side blocks the low afternoon sun.

Pergolas In Abu Dhabi: Common Questions
How much does a pergola cost in Abu Dhabi?
Prices are the same as in Dubai. Our starting prices are for a small 3x3m pergola - from AED 8,000 for a Sama to AED 15,000 for a motorised Sierra, plus installation and 5% VAT. Most gardens and terraces need something bigger, so the final price depends on the size, how it is fixed and extras such as screens or lighting, and we quote it after measuring. Can I see the pergolas before I buy?
Yes. Our Abu Dhabi showroom in Musaffah M16 has pergolas on display, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 6pm. It trades as The Shading Company, our sister brand.
Do I need approval for a pergola in Abu Dhabi?
It depends on the project and the community. Some developments need an NOC from the owner before work starts, and some also need a gate pass for our installation team - Hidd Al Saadiyat, for example, needs both. We tell you what your community needs when we visit.
Can you install a pergola on a roof terrace?
Yes. For roof terraces and balconies the building needs to be checked by a structural engineer first, arranged by the owner. On the ground floor a normal concrete foundation is enough.
How long does it take?
Around 4-5 weeks from order to installation, and 2-3 days on site to install.
