Sierra Pergola Installed in Marina in Dubai

Rooftop terraces in Dubai Marina present a specific challenge - full exposure to sun and wind with no natural shelter, but views worth protecting. Blocking the outlook with a heavy fixed structure defeats the purpose entirely.

This two-module Sierra bioclimatic pergola was custom manufactured to the exact dimensions of the terrace, maximising the usable covered area while keeping the Marina and sea views open. The motorised louvres, controlled via Somfy, allow the resident to dial in exactly how much light and airflow they want - fully open on a winter afternoon, angled for shade in the height of summer, closed if rain comes in.

Being a rooftop installation, structural integrity was critical. A third-party structural report was completed prior to installation, confirming the fixing specification and load tolerances for the location.

The result is a terrace that works as a proper outdoor living space for twelve months of the year rather than sitting unused through summer.
